No Global Warming – No Holocaust, Cigarettes Are Not Addictive and Other Lies

    By Mark Schauss | January 9, 2009

Having just watched the History Channel show Last Days on Earth, I heard a beautiful yet disturbing way of describing global warming denialists; when you want to talk about the Holocaust of WWII, do you bring out people who deny that it happened even though it did?  Well, when it comes to global warming, thats what Fox News does. Let’s just repeat the tobacco companies CEOs testimony in front of Congress denying that nicotine and cigarettes are addictive. Global warming doesn’t exist, the Holocaust never happened and cigarrettes are safe are three lies that need to be thrown into the garbage.

Still, I think that humans will respond positively to the threat of global warming but only when the pain is very apparent and the denialists are looked at like the ideologic dinosaurs that they are.  We can reverse this and make a great world better. We are such a unique planet who can save ourself from a comet, create the Internet and fly to outer space yet the one thing we need to protect ourselves from is ourself. Gain some moral standing to say that our world and our children’s world is worth saving. We need to be honest enough to admit our errors and do something about it. I have faith in our world. Do you?

The global warming proponents are ignoring the fact that other planets in our solar system are actually warming. Earth is theoretically warming, but there’s little indication of it.

It could be the planetary warming is being masked by the global cooling that has started on this planet — the next ice age. After all, it was in the 70’s that these same Chicken Littles were trying to terrify us about a global cooling.

With temperatures going down they are taking two tacks. The first is that you may be experiencing unusual cold weather, but somebody else must be frying. The second tack is to have a “scientist” describe how filthy capitalist factories are creating CO2 which is filtering heat and causing cooling.

Whatever the situation, These Chicken Littles are after one thing — political power. If they can come up with an external “threat”, they can scare the public into accepting emergency dictatorship — that will never end.

Too bad your argument is incorrect. The claim that in the 70s the “chicken littles” were saying that there was global curing is a lie. It was a very few scientists and this is a scare tactic used by the denialists, which you seem to be.
The argument you present is just a rehash of the nonsense that non-scientists use to deny what real researchers can see which is that our planet IS warming and MAN is one of the reasons.
Political power is what the denialists have had and we the people see through the lies you mention. We have with a collective conscience said enough is enough. The truth of global warming is there whether you like it or not.

Only until we we see the outer world with in us and realize that we are one in the same, that is when we will wake up.
I highly recommend everyone do yoga to make this connection. I’m working hard at changing myself and using as lille from this earth as possible.

Please join me. We don’t need much. It is within. Peace.

Well said Peter. Whatever way we choose to look internally will help us look at our outer world with a much clearer picture. We can then make the changes and difference to make this world a better place for everyone and every creature we share this planet with.
